God is Good (Day 2)

This morning, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in the meeting tent outside Bethany House in Kigali. We took some time getting supplies, exchanging money, and eating lunch in the city, before heading out to Gahini.

Have you ever tried to pack 18 people, their luggage, their driver and their translator in a Rwandan bus? It's super fun! :)

Lunch at the White Horse Restaurant in Kigali!

We drove a little over an hour to Gahini, where we are staying a short walk away from the Seeds of Peace conference center, in the Bishop's guest house. It is a beautiful house, right on lake Muhazi, with beautiful gardens and gorgeous views! We can see the president of rwanda's summer house across the lake, but apparently he's in Britain right now.

We had dinner at Seeds of Peace and met with Bishop Alexis Bilindibagabo. He shared with us about his ministry and the growth of the Anglican Church in Rwanda. One of the things he told us was that "So many people come to African expecting to minister to poor, miserable people. But you won't find anyone like that here. We may be poor, but we are actually very happy." When Kevin asked him what in his life makes him the most happy, he simply replied, "God is good!"

Megan sat next to a lady from Nairobi on the flight from Baltimore to NY and from NY to Amsterdam. That was the connection that required some sprinting due to delays. They were talking about the craziness of the flights, and the lady asked Megan about the trip. Megan told her that she was a little anxious and nervous, and the lady's reply was, "God is good!"

We were greeted at the airport in Kigali by Joseph, our guide/translator who is the youth worker for the entire diocese (around 10,000 kids!). As we waited for Chris to report his missing luggage, Andrea was talking with Joseph about how she was tired and worn out, and guess what his reply was? "God is good!"

When talking with the bishop tonight, he urged us to take some time to just contemplate how good God is. It's only been two days but it looks like a theme might be emerging. Hopefully Chris will be receiving his luggage some time tomorrow (along with the second bag of soccer balls), and we will acknowledge that God is good. Kevin accidentally drank some of the water in the shower last night, and he was sick for a little bit, but he's better now and God is good!
